News Release from WisDOT

WisDOT seeking input on US 10 reconstruction project in Mondovi
Multiyear construction project includes replacing pavement, utilities, sidewalk, curb, gutter
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is holding a public involvement meeting to share details about a multiyear pavement replacement project on US 10 from County A to 1,580 feet east of WIS 37 North in the Buffalo County city of Mondovi.
• When: 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, July 29
o A presentation is planned for 5 p.m., with the remainder of the meeting following the open-house format.
• Where: Marten Community Center, 120 S. Franklin St., Mondovi
The pavement on this segment of US 10 is nearing the end of its service life. To address this and other issues, WisDOT is proposing:
• Replacing the asphalt pavement with 8 inches of concrete pavement
• Replacing approach slabs and pavement markings at the Peeso Creek Bridge
• Replacing storm sewer systems
• Replacing sidewalk and reconstructing noncompliant sidewalk curb ramps
• Replacing curb, gutter and street lighting
• Replacing existing sanitary and water utilities
o This work is being completed by the city.
During construction, US 10 will be closed to through traffic. Because of lengthy detours, construction will be split into stages:
• Stage 1:
o Through traffic traveling on US 10 west of WIS 37 South will be detoured via US 10, WIS 85, WIS 37 and US 10.
• Stage 2A:
o Through traffic traveling on US 10 between the south and north legs of WIS 37 will be detoured via US 10, WIS 85, WIS 37 and US 10.
• Stage 2B:
o Through traffic traveling on US 10 east of WIS 37 North will be detoured via US 10, WIS 37, I-94, WIS 93 and US 10.
In addition, a local traffic detour using adjacent city streets is being considered.
Construction currently is scheduled for 2030 (Stage 1) and 2031 (Stage 2A and 2B).
WisDOT is seeking public input on the proposed project through Aug. 29. Visit the project’s design website for more information about the proposed work and a comment form.
